Kathmandu: Nepal has reaffirmed its strong support for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and stressed the need to ensure the safety and security of UN peacekeepers serving in Lebanon.
According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, Nepal joined other countries in expressing concern over the safety of peacekeepers operating under challenging circumstances.
Nepal stated that peacekeepers must never be targeted and strongly condemned attacks against United Nations personnel. It also wished injured peacekeepers a speedy and full recovery.
The government called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, respect international law, and fully implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
