Kathmandu: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association of the Former Career Ambassadors of Nepal (AFCAN) was held at its office in Tripureshwor on July 2, 2025. Among other agendas, the meeting unanimously agreed to extend the term of office of the executive team for the next two years.
According to AFCAN Secretariat, the AGM members, while congratulating the executive team, also appreciated the impressive work they have carried out in the past. The current executive committee includes Mr. Bhagirath Basnet as President, Mr. Mohan Krishna Shrestha as Vice President, Mr. Jhabindra P. Aryal as General Secretary, Mr. Prahlad Kumar Prasai as Treasurer, and Mr. Prakash Kumar Suvedi as Member.
The Association of Former Career Ambassadors of Nepal (AFCAN) was established in 2007. It is a non-profit association registered with the concerned authority of the Government of Nepal. Its objectives include contributing to the promotion of Nepal’s national interests in line with the country’s foreign policy; conducting studies, research, interactions, and dialogues both within the Association and with external bodies; and providing independent institutional views and advice to the Government of Nepal on foreign relations matters, which may assist in policy formulation and implementation.
AFCAN has been working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through periodic consultations on key foreign policy matters. It has also organized several workshops and seminars on significant topics such as Foreign Direct Investment, External Trade, Foreign Employment, Tourism, and Water Resources.
