Nepal-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group Discusses Policy Exchange and Investment Promotion

Kathmandu: The Nepal-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group has held discussions focused on sharing policy-making experiences and promoting investment between Nepal and the United Kingdom.

At a meeting held today at Singha Durbar, the group emphasized the use of parliamentary diplomacy to foster closer cooperation in legislative practices and economic engagement.

According to Coordinator Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the group has reached an understanding with the Westminster Foundation to collaborate on policy-making processes and parliamentary practices in both countries. Similarly, a partnership has been established with the Nepal-UK Chamber of Commerce to explore investment opportunities and areas of mutual interest.

Shrestha stated that the group will move forward by developing a cooperation framework with both organizations. The group also decided to engage with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explore the broader parliamentary dimension of Nepal-UK relations.

During the meeting, Dinesh Wagle, Director of the Westminster Foundation, presented an overview of the foundation’s work in Nepal and its future plans. Rajendra Khetan, President of the Nepal-UK Chamber of Commerce, highlighted Nepal’s investment potential, key sectors for British investors, and opportunities to deepen economic ties.

The group affirmed its commitment to strengthening Nepal-UK relations, with a focus on parliamentary diplomacy and economic cooperation.
