India to Support Five New Education and Health Projects in Nepal

Kathmandu:  The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and local project implementing agencies on July 21 signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for five new development projects in Nepal.

These projects fall under India’s High Impact Community Development Programme (HICDP) and will focus on the education and health sectors. The total estimated cost is NPR 390 million, funded by the Government of India.

The projects include the construction of school buildings in Dhanusha, Parsa, Achham, and Bara districts, as well as a five-bed hospital building in Manang. These facilities will be built with the help of local municipalities and rural municipalities and are expected to improve access to quality education and healthcare in the respective areas.

Since 2003, India has supported 579 such high-impact projects in Nepal, of which 496 have already been completed. These projects have contributed to improving infrastructure in education, health, drinking water, sanitation, roads, and public services across all seven provinces of Nepal.
