Forest Ministry Organizes Climate Workshop with UNDP Support

Kathmandu: To support the implementation of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), the Ministry of Forests and Environment, with help from UNDP and partners, organized a national workshop bringing together government officials, experts, development partners, and civil society. The event highlighted the need for inclusive planning and cooperation across all levels from ministries to local communities.

Nepal has officially submitted its NDC 3.0 to the UN Climate Change, marking a major step forward in the country’s climate efforts.

Speaking at the workshop, UN Resident Coordinator Hanaa Singer-Hamdy stressed the need to move away from traditional biomass fuels and praised the inclusive process behind NDC 3.0, which involved women, youth, indigenous groups, and marginalized communities.

UNDP Nepal Resident Representative Kyoko Yokosuka reaffirmed UNDP’s support for Nepal, calling NDC 3.0 a roadmap toward a sustainable and resilient future.

Top government officials, including Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal and Secretary of Forests and Environment Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra, also highlighted the importance of strong coordination and thanked the UN and UNDP for their continued support in tackling climate challenges.
