U.S. Embassy Representatives Join Gai Jatra Celebrations in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu: Chargé d’Affaires Jason Meeks, Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker, Spokesperson Frank Sellin, and Cultural Affairs Officer Erica Alexander from the U.S. Embassy joined locals in Bhaktapur on August 10 to celebrate Gai Jatra, the festival honoring life’s cycles and remembering those who have passed.

The historic city’s streets were filled with vibrant costumes, lively music, dancers, and creatively decorated cows. Among the highlights was the traditional Ghintang Ghisi dance, performed with rhythmic energy and community spirit.

Gai Jatra, a centuries-old tradition, continues to unite communities through a blend of joy and remembrance, celebrating cultural heritage while honoring loved ones lost.
