Peru’s Non-Resident Ambassador Praises Nepal’s Global Leadership in Ecotourism

Kathmandu: Non-resident Ambassador of Peru to Nepal, Javier Paulinich, has hailed Nepal as a global leader in eco-tourism, saying its achievements have inspired South American nations.

Speaking at a program organized by the Honorary Embassy of Peru in Kathmandu to mark Peru’s 204th Independence Day, Ambassador Paulinich, who is also Peru’s envoy to India, lauded Nepal’s progress in hydropower, sustainable mountain development, and eco-tourism.

“We deeply appreciate Nepal’s global leadership in hydropower, sustainable mountain development, and eco-tourism, which has inspired our community and laid a strong foundation for future collaboration,” he said, adding that these efforts align closely with Nepal’s aspirations for renewable energy, infrastructure, and green innovation.

He expressed Peru’s willingness to enhance cooperation in agriculture, tourism, education, Ayurveda, and naturopathy, stressing the need to strengthen people-to-people ties.

Honorary Consul of Peru to Nepal, Sumit Agrawal, pledged to promote stronger bilateral relations, focusing on investment, agriculture, tourism, trade, and technology transfer. “Nepal and the Republic of Peru have enjoyed strong relations, and we aim to take them to new heights while encouraging mutual prosperity,” he said.

The event also featured an exhibition of traditional Peruvian cuisine and costumes.
