Kathmandu: Minister for Drinking Water, Pradeep Yadav, and an expert team from the Indian government held discussion on the drinking water crisis in Terai-Madhesh.
Joint Secretary and Spokesperson at the Ministry, Meena Shrestha, informed that the experts’ team from India arrived in Nepal at the special invitation of Minister Yadav on August 11, 2025. They had an in-depth discussion on the drinking water crisis in Madhesh Province and its long-term solutions.
According to her, the team would visit the crisis-hit districts of Terai-Madhesh on today, and engage with necessary stakeholders for preparing an action plan to resolve the crisis.
During the discussion, Minister Yadav said the drinking water crisis was the most acute in Birgunj Metropolitan City. Bara and other districts are also facing water scarcity.
The Indian team comprised Dehradun Regional Director Prashant Rae, Jagdamma Prasad, and advisor to the Lucknow Drinking Water Department and Sanitation, Ashish Pandey.
