Kathmandu: Voices of Women Media, in collaboration with the Kumbharadda Disappeared People’s Memorial Park, successfully organized an exhibition titled “Memories Will Haunt” to mark the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30. The program took place at the Kumbharadda Disappeared People’s Memorial Park in Bardiya, bringing together victim families, community members, and dignitaries in a solemn act of remembrance.
The exhibition honored the memory of the disappeared while reflecting on the deep impact of conflict on communities. It also served as a platform to foster dialogue on justice, healing, and collective remembrance.
Featuring a powerful collection of photographs, videos, personal stories, and artistic expressions, the exhibition highlighted narratives of loss, resilience, and resistance from families of the disappeared in Bardiya and neighboring districts. Attendees were also offered a guided tour of the memorial park.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated with the beautiful lighting of oil lamps by Rabina Chaudhary (Victim Family), Sandeep Pun (President of the Martyrs and Disappeared Warriors’ Children Foundation), and Chabilal Tharu (Mayor of Barbardiya Municipality), in the presence of Chief Guest Rajkumar Tharu, a member of Lumbini Province Assembly.
Organizers emphasized that the event not only amplified the voices of victims but also reinforced ongoing efforts toward memory, truth, and justice. The exhibition will be on display for a year.
