Nepal Embassy in Beijing Hosts Investment Promotion Event

Kathmandu: To showcase Nepal’s investment prospects and ongoing economic reforms aimed at attracting foreign investors, the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing hosted an investment promotion event titled “Emerging Nepal: Opportunities for Investment” at the Embassy on July 8.

Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, emphasized Nepal’s urgent need for foreign investment, particularly from China, which is already a significant source of foreign investment and a key trading partner of Nepal.

The Ambassador to China also outlined priority sectors, including energy, information technology, infrastructure, and agriculture, while detailing recent policy reforms aimed at enhancing Nepal’s investment climate. This reaffirms the Embassy’s commitment to actively supporting and facilitating Chinese investment.

As Nepal graduates from the status of Least Developed Country (LDC), Damodar Bhandari, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, in a video message, stressed the importance of foreign investment in supporting Nepal’s development.

Bhandari also invited Chinese investors to explore opportunities across multiple sectors, reiterating Nepal’s liberal investment policies, institutional facilitation, and special incentives for key sectors.

He Zhenwei, President of the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), highlighted the deepening Nepal-China economic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Moreover, Zhenwei emphasized China’s growing exports to Nepal and the progress of connectivity projects. He also invited the Nepali representatives to the upcoming 15th China Overseas Investment Promotion Conference in Beijing in September 2025.

Zhai Wenming from Arniko International Supply Chain Company shared insights into the company’s expanding footprint in Nepal, spanning over ten sectors, including consumer goods, tourism, and industrial development. He also emphasized Nepal’s untapped potential and reaffirmed Arniko’s long-term commitment to commercial and cultural integration in Nepal.

Joining the event, Parbati Aryal, Economic Minister of the Embassy, made a presentation on “Investment Climate and Opportunities in Nepal and Applicable Legal Regime,” highlighting Nepal’s key investment policies, sectoral prospects, and legal procedures, emphasized on Nepal’s efforts to maintain a conducive environment for foreign investors through clear regulatory frameworks and various incentive measures.

The event featured experience sharing by Chinese Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises preparing to invest in Nepal. It drew over 100 participants, including government officials, business leaders, and members of the media.
