Family Thanks Foreign Minister Dr. Rana for Efforts to Release Bipin Joshi

Kathmandu: The family of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali citizen kidnapped by Hamas from Israel in October 2023, has expressed gratitude to Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba for her ongoing efforts toward his release, while urging her to intensify further diplomatic initiatives.

Bipin’s mother and sister met Minister Dr. Rana at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, thanking her for the steps taken so far and requesting stronger follow-up actions. With the support of the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu and under Minister Rana’s facilitation, the family had recently traveled to Israel to appeal for Bipin’s release and to gather information about his condition. Upon their return, they briefed the Minister about their meetings with Nepali Ambassador Prof. Dr. Dhan Prasad Pandit, Israeli government officials, the President of Israel, and other senior authorities.

On the occasion, Minister Dr. Rana assured the family that the Government of Nepal has been making all possible diplomatic efforts and would further strengthen its initiatives in the coming days. She noted that since assuming office, around nine months after Bipin’s abduction, she has raised the issue as a priority at the United Nations General Assembly, in bilateral and multilateral meetings, and through consistent diplomatic correspondence.

Minister Rana added that she has persistently highlighted Bipin’s case in discussions and phone calls with her counterparts and senior officials from Israel, Egypt, Iran, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and other countries, as well as in various international forums. She reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing every possible channel for securing Bipin’s safe release.
