UNDP-Supported Initiative Launches Digital Charter in Nepal’s Judiciary

Kathmandu: The Special Court has officially launched the Digital Charter for Court Clients with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under its Access to Justice project, funded by Norway.

The charter was inaugurated by Dr. Nahakul Subedi, Chief Judge of the High Court, Patan.

The Digital Charter serves as an interactive platform that provides real-time information on court services, procedures, and citizens’ rights. Equipped with audio-visual features, dynamic content, and digital kiosks, it aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in the justice delivery process. In parallel, the Court is preparing to introduce a Digital Case Management System (DMS)—a state-of-the-art ICT-based solution designed for digital case repositories, one-click bench displays, archival management, and streamlined collaboration.

The DMS is expected to transform courtroom operations and strengthen judicial efficiency through technological integration.

These innovations, backed by UNDP, underscore Nepal’s growing commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and citizen-focused services within its judiciary.
