Prime Minister Oli to Visit China for SCO Summit

Kathmandu: Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli is set to visit the People’s Republic of China from August 30 to September 3, 2025, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During his five-day visit, Prime Minister Oli will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 and attend `the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War´. He will also be accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oli will meet with President Xi Jinping in Tianjin, where he is also scheduled to address the SCO Plus Summit on September 1. On the sidelines of the Summit, he is expected to hold meetings with several world leaders attending the high-level gathering.

Moreover, on September 2, the Prime Minister will travel to Beijing to hold talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. During his stay in the Chinese capital, Oli will also participate in the commemorative events to be organized on September 3, honoring the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The Prime Minister’s delegation will comprise Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant; Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey; Member of Parliament Purna Bahadur Khadka; Economic and Development Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada; and Member of Parliament Chhabilal Bishwakarma, along with senior government officials.

Prime Minister Oli and his delegation are scheduled to return to Kathmandu on September 3, 2025.
