Foundation Stone Laid for Hostel and Canteen Block at Shree Dibya Deep Secondary School in Mustang

The event was attended by local political representatives, government officials, teachers, students, parents, and community members.

KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for the construction of a hostel building and canteen block at Shree Dibya Deep Secondary School in Lomanthang Rural Municipality, Mustang, was jointly laid on June 8 by Prasanna Shrivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Tasi Nharbu Gurung, Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality.

The event was attended by local political representatives, government officials, teachers, students, parents, and community members. Speaking on the occasion, Shrivastava expressed satisfaction over the growing India-Nepal development partnership and reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s development priorities.

Chairman Gurung and other stakeholders thanked the Government of India for its continued support and expressed confidence that the new infrastructure will help improve the learning environment for students in the region.

The project is being implemented under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), with a grant assistance of Rs 37.60 million from the Government of India. The new facility will include a hostel with toilets, bathrooms, a kitchen block, a dining hall, restrooms, and other necessary infrastructure.

Shree Dibya Deep Secondary School is the only high school in Upper Mustang, serving students from Lomanthang and Loghekar Damodar Kunda Rural Municipalities.

As part of his Mustang visit, Shrivastava also visited the Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School, where a dormitory is under construction with Indian assistance worth Rs 41.40 million.
