Nepal and Equatorial Guinea established diplomatic relations on April 30, 2019. Equatorial Guinea is the 165th country to establish bilateral ties with Nepal.

Amrit Bahadur Rai, then Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, and Anatolio Ndong Mba, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the United Nations, signed a Joint Communiqué to this effect at a brief ceremony in New York this afternoon. They also signed a joint letter informing the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, about this development.

At the multilateral level, Nepal and Guinea are members of the United Nations, the Group of 77 (G77), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
