Nepal’s Karate Kid Arika Wins Historic Bronze

Arika Gurung, 21, has won a historic bronze medal in the Karate 1-Premier League, one of the most prestigious league events in the world of karate.

On June 1, Arika won the bronze medal in the women’s 68 kg+ weight category match held in Rawat, Morocco, on Sunday night. Defeating France’s Clemence Pea with a 6-2 score.

Arika, winning Nepal its first ever medal in the Premier League, defeated the 20th-ranked Clemence, who participated for her first time in the league.

After her loss to Maria Torres Garcia in the semifinals, Arika competed for the bronze medal. Maria Torres won the gold medal in the finals against Rosell Walters 4-2.
