KATHMANDU: The Flag-In Ceremony for the Nepal-India Joint Kanchenjunga Mountain Climb 2025 was successfully held on June 2 at the Nepal Army Headquarters, marking the formal conclusion of the joint expedition undertaken by the Nepali and Indian armies.
The event celebrated the successful summit of Mount Kanchenjunga, achieved on May 19-20 by a 15-member team comprising 10 personnel from the Nepali Army and 5 from the Indian Army. The expedition was flagged off earlier on April 30, in New Delhi, in the presence of India’s Defense Minister.
During the ceremony, the team leaders handed over the expedition flag to the chief guest, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and Lieutenant General Nirmal Thapa. In his address, Defense Minister Rai congratulated the climbers on their achievement and praised the enduring cooperation between the two armies.
The program commenced with welcome remarks by Major General Prem Dhwaj Adhikari, Head of the Military Operations, followed by a congratulatory message from Lieutenant General Ajay Ram Dev, head of the Indian Army delegation.
The ceremony was attended by the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, senior officials from the Nepali Army, representatives from various government ministries, members of the joint climbing team, delegates from the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), and media personnel.
