Minister Adhikari emphasized the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with FAO to deliver its technical expertise and experience to farmers through new programs.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has called for increased support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to advance Nepal’s agricultural sector.

During a meeting with FAO Special Representative Daniel Gustafson at Singha Durbar on June 8, Minister Adhikari emphasized the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with FAO to deliver its technical expertise and experience to farmers through new programs, according to his secretariat.

He expressed confidence that FAO-supported initiatives would contribute to enhancing food and nutrition security, promoting sustainable natural resource management, and supporting the economic empowerment of rural women in Nepal.

FAO Representative Gustafson, for his part, underscored the importance of implementing climate adaptation programs, noting the growing challenges Nepal faces due to climate change.
