Deputy Speaker Magar Departs for South Africa to Attend High-Level Democracy Dialogue

KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Indira Rana Magar, departed for South Africa on Wednesday morning for a four-day official visit.

She is scheduled to participate in a high-level dialogue on democracy titled “Reimagining Democracy in Africa: Comparative Experiences of the Global South,” taking place in Pretoria on June 19 and 20. The event is jointly organized by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the Open Society Foundation, and the South African Department of International Cooperation and Relations.

The dialogue will bring together political leaders, experts, and civil society representatives from across the Global South to exchange experiences and perspectives on democratic transformation and governance.
