Calling it a moment of national pride, Prime Minister Oli said this recognition marks the first time a school from Nepal has been honored on such a prestigious global platform.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli extended heartfelt congratulations to Kopila Valley School in Birendranagar, Surkhet, for being selected as a Top 10 finalist for the World’s Best School Prize for Environmental Action 2025.

Calling it a moment of national pride, Prime Minister Oli said this recognition marks the first time a school from Nepal has been honored on such a prestigious global platform. He praised the school’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community impact, especially through its Green School Campus and zero-waste initiatives.

The school, which educates over 400 children, many from marginalized communities, has achieved a 95% pass rate in the national Grade 10 exams and sees 63% of its students pursue higher education. It also serves over 500 daily meals from its own organic farm and works with 22 local female farmers to promote food security.

Prime Minister Oli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to quality education, environmental stewardship, and gender equality, calling Kopila Valley a shining example of what is possible for Nepal’s future.
