Nepali Ambassador Dr. Oli Meets Yunnan Vice Governor to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Kathmandu: Ambassador of Nepal to China, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, held a bilateral meeting with Xu Hao, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, in Kunming. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Nepal, China, and the Yunnan Province across various sectors.

Ambassador Dr. Oli expressed appreciation for the longstanding, friendly relations between Nepal and Yunnan, highlighting the extensive collaboration in trade, investment, education, socio-cultural exchanges, and people-to-people relations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties, especially as Nepal and China celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

Discussions emphasized promoting high-level visits, boosting tourism, sharing agricultural technology, and expanding professional exchanges. Ambassador Oli praised Yunnan’s achievements in high-end tourism, agriculture, crop genetics, and clean energy innovation. He called for greater support in technology transfer, especially in modern farming techniques, educational opportunities for Nepali students, and professional exchanges involving lawyers and academics.

Vice Governor Xu Hao welcomed Nepal’s proposals and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in the suggested areas. The Chinese delegation included senior officials from the Yunnan Provincial Government, Foreign Affairs Office, Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Sports Administration.

Ambassador Dr. Oli was accompanied by senior officials from the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.
