Nepal’s Consul-General Dr. Lekhak Calls on Hong Kong Chief Executive John KC Lee

Kathmandu: Consul-General of Nepal to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Dr. Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of HKSAR, the John KC Lee, at his office on August 6. He was accompanied by Consul Satish Gurung.

During the meeting, Dr. Lekhak highlighted the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Nepal and China, noting that 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He recalled recent high-level visits from Nepal to Hong Kong, including the visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba in May 2025, and emphasized the need for continued exchanges in the future.

Dr. Lekhak also raised various topics of mutual interest such as transit visas, labour diplomacy, connectivity, trade, and tourism, underscoring the importance of strengthening ties between Nepal and HKSAR.

Welcoming Dr. Lekhak to Hong Kong, Chief Executive John KC Lee wished him success in his tenure and expressed appreciation for Nepal’s growing commercial and people-to-people ties with China. He also recognized Nepal’s strong reputation as a tourist destination and affirmed Hong Kong’s interest in deepening cooperation with Nepal in multiple areas of shared interest.
