Diplomat Bhuwan Paudel’s Travel-Inspired Book Now Available

Kathmandu: Nepali diplomat Bhuwan Paudel has released a new book inspired by his journeys across different parts of the world. Titled ‘Tibbati Patharko Sambridi Dekhi AfriKako Garibisamma’—roughly translated into English as From the Prosperity of the Tibetan Plateau to the Poverty of Africa—the book is now available in the market.

Paudel had previously published ‘Niayatra Bhutan: Yatra Ek Anubhuti Anek’. In his latest work, Paudel, who currently serves as an Under-Secretary at Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflects on his extensive 17 years of diplomatic travels.

“In this book, I have tried to include many things that I have experienced, heard, seen, and felt during my travels—from my visits to the neighbouring friendly country, the People’s Republic of China, to Bangladesh, the Gulf countries, Africa, and Europe,” Paudel said.

He emphasized the importance of documenting travel experiences, whether undertaken for professional or personal reasons. According to him, writing trip reports and recording impressions immediately after returning helps preserve memories that might otherwise fade with time.

“If travel experiences are set aside or forgotten soon after a trip, the urge to write gradually disappears, and many details are lost. This is a natural weakness,” he said. “Even if what one writes does not seem impressive at first, over time it often feels meaningful and worthwhile. I wanted to compile the travel notes I had written over the years, believing they might also interest others.”

The book is priced at Rs. 400.
