Nepal–Japan Cultural Fusion Event ‘Harmony of Drums’ Held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board hosted “Harmony of Drums: A Japanese–Newari Cultural Music Fusion 2026” at its auditorium in Bhrikutimandap, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.

Jointly organized with World U Academy (Hero’s Club) from Japan, the event showcased cultural diplomacy through music, bringing together artists from both countries.

The highlight of the programme was a dynamic drum performance by Japanese artists from Hero’s Club, reflecting Japan’s rich musical heritage. Nepali performers from the Nepal Cultural Corporation also presented traditional Dhime Baja and Newari cultural performances.

The fusion of Japanese drumming and Newari music created a unique cultural exchange, symbolizing harmony and shared values.

Speaking at the event, Sunil Sharma from the Nepal Tourism Board emphasized the role of such initiatives in strengthening bilateral ties and promoting Nepal as a culturally rich destination.

Officials said the event highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in deepening people-to-people relations and further strengthening Nepal–Japan friendship.
