Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal held a meeting with newly elected President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Dr. Hemraj Sharma, and his delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
During the meeting, NRNA officials outlined their expectations from the Government of Nepal, emphasizing the need for the full operationalization of the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) Citizenship Card, amendments to the existing NRN-related Act, and provisions to facilitate Nepali citizenship for NRNs.
The delegation highlighted that these measures are crucial to strengthening the connection between Nepal and its global diaspora, while also enabling greater participation of NRNs in the country’s development.

Appreciating the contributions of Non-Resident Nepalis worldwide, Minister Khanal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns. He assured the NRNA leadership of full cooperation in advancing policy and legal reforms related to diaspora engagement.
The Foreign Minister also underscored the importance of effectively mobilizing diaspora investment, capital, knowledge, skills, and global networks in a more result-oriented manner to support Nepal’s socio-economic development.
