Kathmandu: The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu on 26 January, with the participation of members of the Indian community, friends of India in Nepal, and embassy officials.

The programme began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Rakesh Pandey. This was followed by the screening of a video message of the address to the nation delivered by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, on the eve of the 77th Republic Day.

On the occasion, Dr. Pandey honoured the widows and next of kin of deceased personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and handed over cheques of the Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) amounting to a total of NPR 7.2 crore.
A video highlighting the significant progress made in India–Nepal relations over the past year was also screened during the event.
The celebration featured cultural programmes, including vibrant dance and musical performances by students and teachers of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center of the Embassy, along with performances by Nepali artists.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Indian community in Nepal, friends of India, and embassy officials along with their family members, reflecting the close and cordial ties between Nepal and India.
