Kathmandu: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, held a views-sharing meeting with the Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Bikash Devkota, at the Ministry on January 19.
An eight-member delegation from the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) accompanied the Ambassador during the meeting. The two sides held fruitful discussions on the current capacity and status of medical education in their respective countries, while exploring avenues for enhanced bilateral collaboration in the sector.

During the meeting, the Bangladeshi side shared its expertise and strengths in medical education and proposed the exchange of students, learners, teaching staff, and interns as potential areas of cooperation.
Ambassador Rahman also emphasized the need to strengthen contacts and connectivity among scholars, think tanks, physicians, and people at large. He urged both sides to promote collaboration in the exchange of knowledge, research, and expertise among doctors, technicians, and researchers through workshops, seminars, and symposiums.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s state-of-the-art pharmaceutical industry and its growing global presence, the Ambassador also expressed interest in expanding access of Bangladeshi pharmaceutical products to the Nepali market.
The Nepali side listened attentively to the proposals and expressed a positive response, demonstrating keen interest in further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the health and medical education sectors.
