The National Evidence Synthesis Center at Kathmandu University Inaugurated

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu University inaugurated its National Evidence-Based Synthesis Center (EBSC), marking a significant milestone in advancing research excellence, policy innovation, and academic collaboration among six organizations in UK (University of Chester, University of Huddersfield, Keele University, BU University, Canterbury Christ Church University and the British Academy).

The inauguration program was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Achyut Prasad Wagle, Vice-Chancellor, Kathmandu University, Prof. Eunice Simmons, Vice-Chancellor, University of Chester, Prof. Dr. Rajeev Shrestha, Registrar, Kathmandu University, Prof. Dr. Paul Bissell, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Chester, Prof. Dr. Manoj Humangain, Dean of Medical School, Prof. Dr. Bed Mani Dahal, Dean of School of Science, Dr. Shiva Prasad Giri, Dean, School of Law, Prof. Dr. Padam Simkhada, Dean of Global Impact & Research, University of Chester, Prof. Dr. Philip Brown, Dr. Rajeeb Kumar Sah, Dr. Kaung Suu Lwin from the University of Huddersfield, Prof. Dr. Simon Rushton from the University of Sheffield, Associate Deans of Kathmandu University, Directors, Faculty members, researchers, distinguished guests, and Research Fellows.

The program was moderated by Dr. Biraj Man Karmacharya, Chief Administrative Officer of Medical School. The ceremony reflected the University’s unwavering commitment to strengthening evidence-informed decision-making and fostering a culture of rigorous evidence synthesis.

The program commenced with a welcome address by the Dean of Medical School and echoed their enthusiasm, expressing confidence that the National Evidence Based Synthesis Center will serve as a multidisciplinary hub bringing together experts from health sciences, education, engineering, management, social sciences, and other fields to generate impactful, evidence-informed knowledge.

The Registrar extended warm congratulations to the founding teams and acknowledged the collaborative effort of faculty, partners, and administrative units whose dedication made the Center a reality. The Registrar reaffirmed the University’s institutional support to ensure the Center’s sustainability, growth, and global engagement.

The Vice-Chancellors highlighted that the establishment of the National Evidence Based Synthesis Center represents a forward-looking vision to position Kathmandu University as a regional leader in high-quality systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and research translation. The Professors also emphasized the transformative role of national evidence-based synthesis in shaping public policy, healthcare systems, education reforms, and sustainable development initiatives in Nepal and international.

The inauguration of the National Evidence-Based Synthesis Center stands as a testament to Kathmandu University’s enduring dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact. The University community looks forward to the Center becoming a cornerstone for evidence-informed transformation at national and global levels.
