Kathmandu: The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) successfully hosted the National Forum on “Clean Energy in Action: Decarbonizing Nepal’s Economy” to commemorate International Clean Energy Day 2026. The event brought together policymakers, development partners, private sector leaders, and energy experts to discuss pathways for accelerating Nepal’s clean energy transition.
EU Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo delivered the opening remarks, reaffirming the European Union’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s decarbonization efforts and inclusive green growth, in alignment with the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and long-term net-zero targets.
Anil Kumar Sinha, Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, served as the Chief Guest, joined by senior government officials. The forum provided a platform for high-level policy dialogue, exploring investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships to scale clean energy deployment and improve energy efficiency across the country.
Through a Team Europe approach, the EU continues to support AEPC in collaboration with GIZ Nepal, KfW, the European Investment Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other development partners, leveraging both public and private finance to accelerate sustainable energy solutions in Nepal.
