Bigyapan Sewa Launched to Modernize Procurement in Nepal

Kathmandu: A new digital procurement platform, Bigyapan Sewa, has been officially launched, on April 17, marking what organizers describe as a significant step toward modernizing procurement practices in Nepal. The integrated online platform aims to streamline service sourcing, improve transparency, and connect institutions with multiple verified vendors through a single interface.

According to the organizers, the platform introduces a centralized digital marketplace designed to address long-standing challenges in traditional procurement systems, such as fragmented vendor access, time-consuming coordination, limited price transparency, and inefficiencies in service sourcing. By allowing users to publish procurement requirements and receive competitive proposals from verified service providers, the system is expected to support informed decision-making and improve cost efficiency.

Lead Innovator Khimananda Devkota described the launch as a structural shift in how procurement is conducted in Nepal, noting that the platform aims to replace fragmented and time-consuming processes with a transparent, competitive, and technology-driven ecosystem that benefits both organizations and vendors.

The platform is designed to serve private sector companies, development organizations, SMEs, and individual clients. By digitizing procurement workflows, Bigyapan Sewa is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and promote transparency and accountability in procurement processes. It also seeks to create a more inclusive marketplace by providing vendors with equal access to opportunities while offering clients greater choice and convenience.

Key features of the platform include a centralized procurement system, verified vendor network, competitive bidding mechanism, improved time and cost efficiency, and a user-friendly interface tailored for diverse users.

The platform is now live and accessible nationwide, with organizers stating that initiatives like Bigyapan Sewa will play an important role in strengthening Nepal’s business environment, improving service delivery, and promoting transparency in procurement practices.
