Nepal–Oman Fintech Cooperation Strengthened Through Thawani Partnership

Kathmandu: Ambassador Dornath Aryal met with Majid Al Amri, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Thawani Technologies, Oman, on January 27, to discuss the introduction of digital payment solutions at the Embassy of Nepal in Oman.

Thawani Technologies is an Omani fintech company regulated by the Central Bank of Oman, providing secure digital payment services that promote cashless transactions. Its platform enables payments for individuals, businesses, and institutions through mobile applications, QR codes, and merchant services.

During the meeting, Al Amri agreed to install digital payment equipment at the Embassy, allowing for the direct collection of consular revenues. The collected amounts will be deposited in real time into the Embassy’s bank account without any deductions. As part of an introductory and promotional offer, Thawani Technologies will charge only a nominal annual fee for the service.

The adoption of the streamlined digital payment system is expected to significantly benefit service seekers by eliminating the need to visit ATMs, making the payment of various embassy fees more convenient and efficient, while saving time and effort.
