Kathmandu: The Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA), in collaboration with Visa, organized a workshop titled “Strengthening Cybersecurity Resilience in Nepal” on January 27 in Kathmandu, with the objective of enhancing cybersecurity awareness and strengthening institutional capacity within Nepal’s financial sector.

The inaugural session was attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Cyber Security Directorate of the Nepal Army, Nepal Rastra Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and other key stakeholders.

The workshop featured technical presentations on critical cybersecurity issues, including “Emerging Trends in Cyber-Enabled Frauds and Scams: Nepalese Context” delivered by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, and “Shaping a Secure Digital Future” presented by Visa. These sessions highlighted evolving cyber threats and best practices for safeguarding digital financial systems.

A panel discussion titled “Building a Coordinated National Cybersecurity Ecosystem: Roles, Responsibilities and Way Forward” facilitated in-depth deliberations on inter-agency coordination, shared responsibilities, and strategic priorities for strengthening national cybersecurity preparedness.

The initiative undertaken by the Nepal Bankers’ Association provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and collective action, contributing to the strengthening of Nepal’s cybersecurity resilience amid the country’s rapidly expanding digital financial landscape.
