Nepal Showcases Tourism Potential at Bangladesh Travel Fair

Kathmandu: Nepal has stepped up efforts to promote its tourism sector in Bangladesh through a destination promotion programme in Dhaka and participation in the 14th edition of the Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2026.

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, organised the programme titled “Nepal Is Calling: Visit, Explore and Experience” on October 28, followed by participation in BTTF 2026 from October 29 to 31.

Addressing the destination promotion programme, Nepali Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Ghanshyam Bhandari highlighted tourism and people-to-people contacts as important pillars of Nepal-Bangladesh relations. He encouraged Bangladeshi travellers to visit Nepal, citing geographical proximity, cultural similarities and the country’s diverse tourism attractions, NTB wrote on its website.

NTB said Dr. Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, Secretary of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, attended the programme as the chief guest. She emphasised the need for stronger tourism cooperation and improved connectivity, urging travel entrepreneurs from both countries to establish partnerships and develop joint tourism packages.

According to NTB, the programme featured a destination presentation by Santosh Kumar Ghimire, Senior Manager at NTB, highlighting Nepal’s adventure, spiritual, cultural, wellness and MICE tourism offerings.

A business-to-business (B2B) session brought together 15 Nepali tourism companies and 145 Bangladeshi tour operators, travel agencies and hoteliers to explore business opportunities and potential partnerships. The event also featured cultural performances and a raffle draw offering holiday packages and air tickets.

Continuing its promotional campaign, NTB participated in BTTF 2026 alongside 15 Nepali travel, tour and hospitality companies. Organised by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the three-day fair was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre under the theme “AI-Powered Tourism, Sustainable Destinations”.

The participation provided Nepali tourism businesses with an opportunity to showcase their products and services, engage with international travel trade professionals and establish business networks. The fair brought together tourism organisations, airlines, hotels and tour operators from more than 20 countries.

According to the organisers, the event featured more than 220 exhibitors and over 200 booths and stalls, with more than 250 qualified buyers. It was expected to attract around 2,500 trade visitors and over 60,000 members of the public.

The fair also provided a platform for business-to-business and business-to-consumer interactions, with this year’s theme highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in tourism, alongside sustainable travel practices.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the promotional activities are aimed at strengthening Nepal’s presence in the Bangladeshi tourism market, expanding tourist exchanges and encouraging greater cooperation between the tourism industries of the two countries.
