Kathmandu: Samanwaya Nepal, in partnership with Youth Democracy Network, organized the Youth Advocacy Orientation and Network Strengthening Program on June 20. This program brought together 40 young leaders, student representatives, civil society actors, and youth advocates from different parts of Nepal.
The program aimed to empower young people to participate meaningfully in democratic governance and strengthen youth-led advocacy networks. Through interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises, participants gained valuable knowledge about Nepal’s parliamentary system, public policy formulation processes, and effective advocacy strategies for engaging with elected representatives.
The orientation also provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, build partnerships, and strengthen collaboration among youth advocates committed to promoting accountability, civic engagement, and evidence-based policy dialogue.
Speaking at the program, Jagdish Ayer, Founder and Executive Director of Samanwaya Nepal, stated, “Young people are not only the future of democracy but also its present force. By equipping youth with knowledge, advocacy skills, and networks, we are creating opportunities for them to actively contribute to democratic governance and policy-making processes in Nepal.”
Participants expressed appreciation for the practical nature of the orientation and highlighted the importance of creating more opportunities for young people to engage in policy discussions, civic participation, and democratic processes.
Founder Ayer further stated that Samanwaya Nepal remains committed to strengthening youth leadership, promoting democratic values, and fostering collaborative networks that enable young people to become active agents of positive change
He added, “These types of parliamentary engagement and youth advocacy programs will continue to be organized to support informed youth participation, strengthen democratic institutions, and encourage constructive dialogue between young people and decision-makers.”
Samanwaya Nepal and Youth Democracy Network reaffirmed their commitment to expanding youth engagement initiatives and creating platforms that encourage active citizenship, accountability, and evidence-based policy advocacy across Nepal.
