7th Nepal-India Boundary Working Group Meeting Concludes in New Delhi

Kathmandu: The 7th meeting of the Nepal-India Boundary Working Group (BWG) concluded on July 29  in a cordial and friendly environment.

The Nepali delegation was led by Prakash Joshi, Director General of the Department of Survey, while the Indian side was headed by Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana, Surveyor General of India.

The meeting reviewed progress made since the 6th BWG meeting in 2019, including outcomes of the 11th Survey Officials’ Committee (SOC) meeting. Both sides adopted updated procedures for inspecting and maintaining boundary pillars and agreed on using new technologies to improve survey and mapping efforts.

The meeting ended with the signing of agreed minutes. It was decided that the next SOC meeting will be held in Nepal in August 2025, followed by the next BWG meeting at a mutually convenient date.

Established in 2014, the BWG is a joint body responsible for the construction, restoration, and repair of boundary pillars, along with other technical tasks along the Nepal-India border.
