After Landing in Turkmenistan, PM Oli Says ‘Hello, Awaza!’

PM Oli left for Turkmenistan on Sunday, leading the Nepali delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled to take place in Awaza from August 5 to 8.

Kathmandu: Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli landed in Awaza, one of the beautiful cities of Turkmenistan, on Monday. Upon arrival in the Central Asian city, PM Oli took to social media, writing, “Hello, Awaza!” He further added, “Overwhelmed by the warm welcome from the Government of Turkmenistan. Thank you, Deputy Chairman Mr. Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, for the gracious hospitality. Looking forward to a successful and impactful visit.”

Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York and the recently elected President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), was also present at the airport to welcome PM Oli.

PM Oli departed for Turkmenistan on Monday, leading the Nepali delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled to be held in Awaza from August 5 to 8.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PM Oli is attending the high-level conference at the invitation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. During the four-day event, he will deliver a national statement and address the gathering as Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to co-chair a high-level roundtable session and participate in several other official meetings and side events. He is expected to hold bilateral talks with heads of delegations and senior UN and international officials on the sidelines of the conference.

Accompanying PM Oli on the visit are his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Member of Parliament Surya Bahadur Thapa Kshetree, and other senior government officials.

PM Oli is expected to return to Nepal on August 8.
