Kathmandu: The Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) organized a roundtable discussion titled “Nepal–Tajikistan: Strengthening Bilateral Ties with Focus in Energy” in Kathmandu.
The event featured Lukmon Bobokalonzoda, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Nepal, and focused on expanding cooperation in the energy sector, particularly hydropower. Ambassador Bobokalonzoda highlighted the shared characteristics of the two mountainous countries, noting their cultural and historical connections and common development challenges.
Participants discussed opportunities for technical exchange in high-altitude infrastructure, joint ventures in small and medium-scale hydropower projects, cooperation on climate security, and the need for direct air connectivity to promote trade and investment. The discussion also emphasized the importance of energy security and a green energy transition for landlocked countries.
The meeting was attended by former diplomats, energy experts, and business representatives.
