Kathmandu: The Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) organized a roundtable discussion titled “Nepal–Uzbekistan: Strengthening Trade and Investment Ties” in Kathmandu.
The event featured Sardor Mirzayusupovich Rustambaev, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Nepal, and focused on expanding bilateral economic cooperation. Ambassador Rustambaev highlighted Uzbekistan’s growing role as an economic hub in Central Asia, noting that the country’s GDP reached nearly USD 115 billion in 2024, with foreign direct investment inflows totaling USD 120 billion since 2018.
A key presentation by Abdulaziz Abduganiev, First Secretary at the Embassy of Uzbekistan, identified priority sectors for Nepali investment, including textiles, renewable energy and mining. The discussion also underscored Uzbekistan’s strategic location as a gateway to a regional market of around 300 million people.
The roundtable was attended by industry leaders, government officials and media representatives.
