KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK, Dr. Chandra Ghimire, attended the Gurkha Freedom Parade organized by Brecon Town Council and the Gurkha Wing.
In his special address, Ambassador Ghimire highlighted the historic role of the Gurkhas as the cornerstone of Nepal-UK relations. He also paid tribute to Sir George Everest, the Welsh Surveyor General credited with identifying Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) as the world’s highest peak.
Earlier in the day, the Ambassador met with local dignitaries, including MPs, Mayors, Councillors, and representatives of the Nepali-speaking community in Wales.
