Kathmandu: Ambassador of Nepal to Brazil, Nirmal Raj Kafle, presented his Letters of Credence to Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, President of the Republic of Peru, accrediting him as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Nepal to Peru. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace in Lima.

On the occasion, Ambassador Kafle conveyed best wishes from the President and the Prime Minister of Nepal for President Zegarra’s personal well-being and for the continued peace and prosperity of the people of Peru. President Zegarra welcomed Ambassador Kafle, extended her best wishes, and assured him of full support in carrying out his responsibilities. Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President were present during the ceremony.

While in Lima, Ambassador Kafle also held meetings with Fernando Quiros, Director-General for Asia-Oceania, and Jorge Felix Rubio Correa, Director-General for Economic Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation, including moving toward a mutual visa exemption arrangement for official travels and establishing a bilateral consultation mechanism.

The Peruvian side expressed readiness to extend technical assistance to Nepal under South-South Cooperation in areas such as disaster risk management, water and sanitation, and sustainable urban development. Discussions also touched upon enhancing economic partnerships through business delegation exchanges, as well as promoting cultural and people-to-people linkages.

Both countries emphasized the importance of working together in multilateral forums, particularly on climate change and sustainable mountain development. Nepal, home to the Himalayas, and Peru, custodian of the Andes, reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the global agenda for mountain ecosystems and biodiversity conservation.
