Kathmandu: The Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia, Netra Prasad Timsina, delivered the welcome speech at a seminar organized by Malaysia’s Social Security Organization (PERKESO) to promote awareness of social protection benefits among Nepali migrant workers.
Held under the theme “Work with Ease, Feel at Peace with PERKESO,” the workshop focused on helping Nepali workers in Malaysia understand and access the social protection provisions provided by the Government of Malaysia.
Deputy Executive Head of PERKESO, Edmund Cheong, welcomed participants on behalf of the organization, while Farah Aida from PERKESO’s International Division gave a presentation on social security benefits available for Nepali migrant workers.
The presentation from PERKESO was part of an awareness campaign organised by the Social Security Organization of Malaysia (Government of Malaysia) for Nepali workers.
Kabi Raj Adhikari, Executive Director of Nepal’s Social Security Fund (SSF), made a presentation on SSF provisions for Nepali migrant workers, and Senior Assistant Director Prem Bahadur Mahat further presented on the technical aspects of SSF. The event also saw participation from Nepal’s Labour Counsellor, Krishna Prasad Bhushal, and Labour Attaché of Nepal’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Kalpana Regmi.
Around 100 participants, such as representatives of migrant workers’ welfare organisations and Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia, attended the programme.
