Kathmandu: Nepal’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina, presented his credentials as Non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at a ceremony held at Malacañang Palace, Manila.
Ambassador Timsina was accompanied by his spouse, Meera Bhattarai, and Mudita Bajracharya, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission. The ceremony was also attended by Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Maria Theresa P. Lazaro and senior officials from the Presidential Office.
On behalf of the President Ramchandra Paudel, Ambassador Timsina extended warm felicitations and best wishes to President Marcos Jr. He expressed Nepal’s interest in enhancing cooperation with the Philippines in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and disaster management. The Ambassador highlighted shared values, people-to-people ties, and common interests as the foundation of bilateral relations.
Following the ceremony, Ambassador Timsina paid tribute to Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal by laying a wreath at the Rizal Monument.
Ambassador Timsina was one of four envoys who presented their credentials on the same day, alongside Ambassadors from Australia, Israel, and the Maldives.
Nepal and the Philippines established diplomatic relations on February 12, 1960.
