American Chargé d’Affaires Urbom Swears in 51 Peace Corps Volunteers in Nepal

Kathmandu: Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom of The US Embassy to Nepal swore in a new group of 51 Peace Corps Volunteers in Nepal. The new Volunteers join the 4,000 plus Americans who have volunteered in Nepal since 1962, when the Peace Corps program was signed in an agreement between the governments of Nepal and the United States of America.

For the next two years, these new Volunteers will teach English in government schools, work with farmers to improve agricultural productivity, and collaborate with community forest user groups to sustainably manage Nepal’s forests. They are now on their way to their adopted communities in ten districts located in Bagmati, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces.
