Gandaki: The Annapurna Conservation Area received 246,575 foreign tourists between January and October this year, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
Of the total, 146,968 tourists were from South Asian countries, while 99,607 came from other regions.
April saw the highest number of visitors at 44,763, while January recorded the lowest at 9,359, ACAP reported.
The figure has already surpassed last year’s total of 244,045 tourists, with two months remaining in 2025. “Tourist arrivals increased in all months this year except May and September compared to the previous year,” said ACAP Chief Dr. Rabin Kadariya.
The Annapurna region, a world-renowned trekking destination, typically attracts the highest number of visitors between September–November and March–May.
Dr. Kadariya added that the number of tourists travelling by road to destinations such as Muktinath has also risen.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek remains one of the most popular trekking routes among international travelers. In comparison, 191,666 foreign tourists visited the area in 2023, while only 18,836 had done so in 2020 due to the pandemic, according to ACAP data.
