Balen Shah Responds to Indian PM Modi’s Congratulatory Message

Kathmandu: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and prime ministerial candidate Balendra Shah has responded to a congratulatory message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10.

Modi had earlier extended his best wishes for the RSP’s electoral success and the formation of a new government in Nepal through a social media post on March 9.

In his response on March 10, Shah thanked the Indian Prime Minister for the message and expressed confidence that the two sides would work together to strengthen the longstanding ties between Nepal and India.

“Thank you for the best wishes, Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am confident that we will cooperate to make the historical, close and multifaceted relations between Nepal and India even stronger, deeper and more result-oriented in the coming days,” Shah wrote.

In the same message, Shah also congratulated the Government and people of India on their recent sporting achievement, praising the country for winning the World Cup title for the second consecutive time.

Earlier, Modi had said that he held a telephone conversation with Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the RSP, and senior leader Shah. During the conversation, the Indian Prime Minister congratulated both leaders on their electoral success and appreciated the party’s performance in the Nepali elections.

Modi also expressed India’s commitment to working together with Nepal for mutual prosperity and progress.
