Kathmandu: Shafiqur Rahman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, welcomed Lila Pieters Yahia, the new Resident Coordinator of the United Nations, at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu.
During the courtesy meeting, the UN Resident Coordinator briefed the ambassador on the work of the United Nations and discussed the development challenges and opportunities facing Nepal.
Ambassador Rahman reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to multilateralism and highlighted the central role of the United Nations in promoting global peace and security. The two sides also discussed Nepal’s upcoming national elections, the country’s current political landscape, as well as issues related to geopolitics and regional cooperation.
They further emphasized the importance of UN support in strengthening regional cooperation and addressing global conflicts through diplomacy and dialogue.
