Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Yunus Extends Warm Greetings to Nepal PM Sushila Karki

Chief Adviser Yunus said PM Karki’s assumption of office at a “critical and challenging time” reflected the trust and confidence reposed in her by the people of Nepal.

Kathmandu: The Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has extended warm congratulations to Sushila Karki on her appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal’s Interim Government.

In his official statement issued on Saturday, Yunus said Karki’s assumption of office at a “critical and challenging time” reflected the trust and confidence reposed in her by the people of Nepal. He expressed confidence that under her leadership, Nepal and its resilient people would “continue to progress on the path of peace, development and stability.”

“As a longstanding friend and neighbour of Nepal, we look forward to working closely with Your Excellency to further strengthen the deep-rooted ties of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect that exist between our two countries,” the statement read.

Yunus also offered condolences on the tragic loss of lives during the recent political developments in Nepal. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and wish a swift and full recovery to all those who were injured,” he said.

The congratulatory message comes after Karki’s historic appointment as Nepal’s first woman Prime Minister, following nationwide protests that led to the formation of an interim government.
