Bangladesh Envoy Rahman Hosts Iftar-dinner for Resident Ambassadors in Nepal

Kathmandu: Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Bangladesh Envoy to Nepal hosted an iftar-dinner party on March 10  in honour of the resident Heads of Mission and members of the diplomatic corps in a local hotel in Kathmandu. Senior officials of Ministry of Foreign Affaris, Nepal, including Chief of Protocol Kumar Raj Kharel, and other valued guests from the business sector graced the event.

The Ambassador extended Ramadan greetings while touching on the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan. He underlined the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal while reaffirming Bangladesh’s firm commitment to further strengthening this partnership.

The ambassador also applauded the government and people of Nepal for holding  the peaceful and successful elections, defining it as a milestone in the country’s transition to democracy. The Envoy also expressed keen interest in working closely with the new government of Nepal. 

Referring to Bangladesh’s recent elections and transition to democracy, the Ambassador highlighted new government’s priorities on institutional reforms, strengthening democratic practices and embracing our regional and international partnerships and also apprised  several key initiatives towards establishing a discrimination-free, corruption-free and prosperous Bangladesh through ensuring the rule of law under the dynamic and visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 

The event concluded with a dinner combining international cuisine and flavour of Bangladeshi seafood items and traditional sweets. Heads of Mission from 18 countries, International and Regional organizations joined the celebration.
