Bangladesh Medical Education Fair-2026 Held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA), organized “Bangladesh Medical Education Fair-2026” in the Nepali capital to promote medical education opportunities in Bangladesh among Nepali students.

A total of 20 private medical colleges from Bangladesh participated in the fair, providing comprehensive information on medical education prospects in Bangladesh to aspiring Nepali students and their guardians.

Inaugurating the fair, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and underscored the growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, particularly medical education. He said Bangladesh has emerged as a trusted destination for international medical students due to its quality education, extensive clinical training, affordable tuition fees, modern medical facilities supported by advanced technology, and internationally recognized degrees. He noted that the medical curriculum and examination system in Bangladesh is based on the Canadian system, which he described as more advanced than those in other South Asian countries.

The Ambassador further emphasized that similarities in language and social environment make Nepali students feel comfortable while pursuing higher education in Bangladesh. He added that students gain exposure to a wide range of diseases, enhancing their clinical knowledge and skills. Pointing out that a significant number of Nepali doctors are graduates of Bangladeshi medical institutions, he said they are making valuable contributions to Nepal’s healthcare sector. He also remarked that the quality of postgraduate medical education in Bangladesh is highly regarded internationally. Reiterating the Embassy’s commitment, he said Bangladesh would continue to promote educational cooperation and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two friendly countries.

During the inaugural session, the Secretary-General of BPMCA, Professor Dr. Md. Moazzem Hossain, delivered a detailed presentation on Bangladesh’s medical education system, outlining academic standards, curriculum structure, clinical exposure, and student support services. The former President of BPMCA also addressed the gathering, sharing insights into the association’s role in ensuring quality education and fostering international academic collaboration.

The fair served as a direct interaction platform for students and parents to engage with representatives of Bangladeshi medical colleges. Participants received first-hand information on admission procedures, eligibility criteria, academic programs, tuition fees, scholarships, accommodation facilities, and student life in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Medical Education Fair-2026 received an encouraging response from students, guardians, and the academic community. More than 500 Nepali students visited the fair and interacted with college representatives, appreciating the initiative as timely and informative.

On the sidelines of the event, the BPMCA delegation also met Dr. Bikash Devkota, Secretary (Health) at the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal and Acting Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).
