Basic Foreign Service Training Begins in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Basic Foreign Service Training for newly recruited Foreign Service Officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) commenced on December 23 at the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), Nepal.

In his keynote address, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai underscored the importance of training and continuous learning in fostering effective diplomacy and professional diplomats.

Rai underscored the need to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity, noting that credibility is the most valuable asset in diplomacy. He reminded the officers that diplomacy is not merely a routine job but a vocation and a commitment to safeguarding national interests.

He further emphasized that contemporary diplomacy requires a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach. The one-month training programme will be conducted in three batches.
